Kenneth Thomas’ Podcast Obsessions

Kenneth Thomas

Kenneth Thomas - Kenneth Thomas presents Obsessions

Kenneth Thomas

Kenneth Thomas is without doubt one of the most promising young DJs in the electronic scene right now. There’s an intelligence and a well defined style to his sets. He’s quickly emerging as one to watch in the next generation of superstar DJs”. When Paul Oakenfold has this to say about someone people can tend to stop and take a listen. Following in an elite class consisting of Dave Ralph, D:Fuse & Hernan Cattaneo, its seems every 5 years or so Oakenfold hand picks a future star to take under his wing and the latest selection is Kenneth Thomas. Hailing out of the Detroit, the birthplace of Techno, KT stands out with his emotional and melodic sound. Some might not see the connection of Detroit to his sound, but the connection is there. The same aggression that spawned the early techno sounds of the 90’s is the fuel that fires Kenneth to explore the emotional side of the musical experience. Music has always been a spiritual place for Kenneth and because the depth of dance music goes well beyond a conscious level, there’s an underlying exploration and experience in every set and track.

Beyond traveling the globe, Kenneth has also become a juggernaut in the studio over the past 3 years having completed over 40 tracks and remixes for labels including Baroque, Armada, Om, Perfecto, Cuurve, Alter Ego, Hope and more. Now, busy working on his second EP for Markus Schulzs’ Coldharbour Recordings and coming off recent remixes for David Guetta, Jan Johnston, Oliver Moldan, Jeff Mills and even Scott Wieland, we have seen this ‘Dj at heart’ break new ground in the areas of production. And now beyond DJing & producing, KT is also A&R for Perfecto Records and is helping spearhead the renaissance of one of the greatest labels dance music has ever seen. The future is bright for Kenneth. Touring regularly around the world sharing his blend of progressive minded dance music, his focus has never changed since day one, “This is the most amazing sound I have ever encountered, I just want to share it with as many people as possible.” – The DJ List

What Happened in Piedmont, Utah?

Filed under: Art, Culture, News, Other Blogs, Random — l0ckd0wn @ 4:29 pm

So I see a billboard on the way to a friends place last Friday while on the freeway… It Reads…

What happened in Piedmont, Utah?

www.whathappenedinpiedmont.com

So as I continued my 35min drive to my buddy’s place, I contemplated what the hell this could mean for the remaining 25min that I was going to be in the car… Could it be something big that I missed in the news? Could it be a non-profit organazation trying to bring to light some conspiracy? Am I really wasting this much time wondering what is on a fucking billboard?

So I did what any person with a wee amount of curiosity could have done… I went to the site. This is the first post from www.whathappenedinpiedmont.com.

Okay. I’m likely overreacting, and it’s probably nothing. A couple days from now, things will be fine, and I’ll feel stupid for even doing this, I know. But I’m too anxious right now not to do something.

I don’t even know how to start writing this, but I’ll begin with what happened.

This past Sunday evening, I got a really uncomfortable voicemail from my little sister, Samantha. Even though I’ve been at college for nearly two years, she still calls me every weekend to tell me what’s going on back home in Piedmont, despite the fact that there’s almost never anything going on. Except now, it sounds like there is.

I don’t really know what I’m supposed to say about the voicemail. Just listen to it.

I’d be worried about this either way, but at least there’s a possible explanation. For all of my life, my mother has had a health condition called cardioneurogenic syncope, which is basically an occasional, brief loss of consciousness due to a decrease in blood flow to the brain. Sometimes she faints or falls down, and a couple times we had to take her to the doctor after she hit her head. But it’s not the end of the world.

The weirder part is what’s happened since then… or to be more precise, what hasn’t happened: I can’t get anyone to answer the phone. I tried calling Sam back as soon as I got the message, but she didn’t answer. Neither did our neighbors. I tried all of the other numbers I had – Uncle Kyle, Al’s, the diner, even the police – and not a single answer. There’s probably a good explanation, like phone or electric outages, and I’m just upset over nothing. Kristen says everything is fine.

But the fact is, it’s been more than 24 hours, and I haven’t been able to reach anyone in the entire town, or to make sure that Mom is okay. And while I wish I could just go home and check, I don’t have the money for that sort of thing…and even if I did, I’d have no way to get out to Piedmont unless someone picked me up at the nearest bus stop. And I guess this is kind of stupid, but we’ve been talking about blogs in civic journalism, and I thought maybe if I started one, someone might know something.

So if anyone has any idea why I can’t get in touch with a single person in the town of Piedmont, Utah, can you let me know?

So this could be serious right? Something awful happened and the whole nation doesn’t even know, OH NO! Wait… there is this little link at the bottom of the screen… it says TERMS.

So after doing a little research on just what the hell this whole farce is, it’s basically some sort of advertising platform to showcase A&E’s new mini-series or movie based around the “Andromeda Strain.” Joy. Wasted a few hour of my life finding this out. After all is said and done there is one thing that is constant and true: With such vague and mysterious billboards and ads, its no wonder the marketing worked, it really feeds off your curiosity! Well done A&E for a good marketing ploy!

The Point?

So what is the point of this little out of the way blog? The DTC is a place to get into some heads. Topics will include, but are not limited to Music, Literature, News, Art, Culture as well as links to other blogs and sites that I find have some very useful information on them. This will also be a place to get information on Faderwave broadcasts including track listings, mix selections, and program content. So that’s about it, there will be more to come and hopefully some insightful opinions that you as the reader just may appreciate!
